This story - filled with song, repetition and interactive actions - was written for Wild Ground’s Bushfire Recovery program with the aim to heal and provide hope after the devastating 2019/2020 Australian bushfire season. It was inspired by Danielle Carey’s own children's healing experience of helping our friend, Jess (a WIRES volunteer), and her son, Hamish, care for a clutch of baby Sacred Kingfishers who had fallen in their nest from a burning tree. Jess and Hamish cared for the Kingfishers and the children were lucky enough to be visiting on the day they released them back into the wild. They were released back to Horseshoe Falls, Hazelbrook one of Wild Ground’s much-loved Bush Playgroup sites.
